2009 was a roller-coaster of a year!
Jan. – Busiest January ever. I redesign my website and blog.
Feb. – My performance on “Masters of Illusion” hits the primetime airwaves!
Mar. – My interview on 1000 Ways to Die airs on Spike TV. Back at the Magic Castle.
Apr. – Sarah and I fly to Switzerland and Ireland!
May – We go house hunting. I work on a new, bigger magic show.
June – Lots of grad parties. We spend the weekend in San Diego.
July – Wedding gigs, anniversaries, etc. We make an offer on a home.
Aug. – We go to Seattle.
Sept. – Slowest September ever. I stay home and take a break!
Oct. – Halloween parties. Off to Georgia for family business…
Nov. – I start a weekly magic gig at Falcon on Sunset Blvd. Great crowd.
Dec. – Record-breaking month! Best December ever. Still no home, though (see July)…
All in all… I can’t complain. While the economy did give us a small kick in the pants, I managed to stay busy, get on national TV twice, and make a living doing what I love.
Here’s to achieving even greater heights in 2010. (and also finally getting a home :-)
I had two shows last night… and one of them was especially great:
My first show was a catered cocktail hour/buffet for family and friends in Brentwood. I was hired to perform two hours of strolling magic, and all of the guests were absolutely wonderful. It was a playful, fun, and very intelligent group.
It really is a treat performing for such an appreciative and polite audience. These are the types of shows I love doing, and although it wasn’t my only show of the night… it made for a terrific end to the year.
Yup… last Saturday was my last shows of 2009. I’m looking forward to a nice few weeks of rest and relaxation.
I had a strolling magic show at 9:30am this morning! Definitely the earliest performance I’ve had in a long while. The employees were really great, and everyone at the company seemed to have had a terrific time.
I accidentally hit my left eye late last night (desk-side typing accident), so the only problem was that its kinda swollen. It isn’t hugely noticeable when I wear my glasses, but I’m doing everything I can to get the swelling down by my next show on the 26th.
Of all the times to have a swollen eye… the holiday season is the worst!

The Koi Garden at Teru Sushi
I’ve only been at Teru once in the last 6 weeks! My Friday nights have been busy with company holiday events and private parties. It will be great to see all of the Teru Sushi crew tonight.
The next two Fridays are Christmas and New Year’s… so I probably won’t be back for another three weeks. So if you’re in the mood for top-notch sushi and award-winning magic at a Studio City landmark… come on down!
SO BUSY THIS MONTH!!!
This week I had magic shows on Monday, Tuesday, today and Saturday. Nothing on Friday or Wednesday. Don’t believe the newspapers… Holiday Parties aren’t dead yet!
Although I’m kinda shocked that I’m not booked this Friday (the last Friday before x-mas), I’m kinda grateful for the rest. Chalk that one up to the poor economy I guess. :-)
Tonight I’m doing a magic show at a Private Event at the Magic Castle. Sorry… I can’t invite anyone because the event is private. It’s an organization of young professionals, and it should be a blast. I’ll be performing with Dave Cox… a very funny magician and improv comic who occasionally works cruise ships worldwide.
Should be fun!
Next week… when I have a chance to finally catch my breath, I’ll post some cool stories from the last few weeks.
Sorry for not writing much lately, but December is the busiest month of the year for professional magicians!
On Sunday I had a show in Calabasas. Tuesday I had a company holiday party in Pasadena. Yesterday I had a strolling magic gig in Brentwood, and tomorrow I’m in the valley somewhere…
I have a lot of fun doing what I do, but make no mistake about it… it’s hard work! Every party I go to requires me to be in TOP FORM, and that can create a lot of stress.
I’m off to Long Beach right now. I’ll write more when I find the time!
